Every interaction you have with stakeholders can be seen as a transaction in an “emotional bank account”. It’s either a positive deposit of goodwill, or a negative “withdrawal” of irritation.
Ask yourself these questions:
-
Do I have specific stakeholder relationships that I feel need to be improved?
-
How would I objectively assess the historical balances (both ways) of deposits and withdrawals into the emotional bank account?
-
Can I identify some deposits (trust-building activities) that I can make and withdrawals (trust-eroding activities) I can reduce, eliminate or at least offset?
This is an exercise that will help take the initiative to improve stakeholders relationships.
