To gain insights on what trends are likely to impact your industry in the future you can look at what experts in other expert domains are thinking about the future.

Here are some critical questions you can ask yourself:

  • What has driven major change in my industry in the past?

  • What impact did these changes have?

  • How did your organisation react?

  • How did your peers react as an expert group? What were the trends in your profession, e.g., HR, finance, IT, engineering?

  • What would you do differently now?

  • What is likely to be the next big change to arrive?

  • Do you have a plan? What can you learn from previous experiences?

  • What preparations can you start making now for disruption in the future?
