How do you grow your diplomat skills? - Part 2

Written by Alistair Gordon And Dominic Johnson, 27 Jul 2021

It’s important that you don’t take conflicts with stakeholders personally. Conflicts arise naturally and you must proactively deal with them.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Am I experiencing tension with another team or key individuals?

  • Have I undertaken a quick “needs/situation analysis” by asking what kind of conflict is this? Is it a clash or misalignment of interests? Is it someone’s unmet needs? Is it a clash of ideologies and beliefs? Is it because we all have different styles, standards or values?

  • How do I use any emerging insights to help me facilitate working conjointly for mutual success?
